Alumni of the Year Nominations

The purpose of the “Alumni of the Year” award is to recognize the outstanding achievements of graduates from the Blount County School system.

Eligibility

All nominees must hold a high school diploma from Blount County Schools.

The following describe possible criteria that may be considered by the selection committee:

o   Significant contributions to his/her community;

o   Demonstrated integrity in his/her personal life, gaining respect of those they surround;

o   Established connection to BCS through volunteer activities; and,

o   Demonstrated belief in BCS’ mission and purpose through philanthropic support.

Number of Recipients

The Alumni Committee strongly suggests this privilege be awarded to a broad spectrum of individuals in as many fields as possible (i.e. music, business, medical, law, etc…)

At least four alumni will be chosen to receive the annual award. The selection committee will ensure the geography of the county is equally represented.

Nominations

Nominations will be solicited via the various Alumni Associations, advertised in The Daily Times, on BCS social media platforms and the BCS website.

Nomination forms should be submitted electronically to the BCS Central Office for consideration. Send all electronic submissions to alumni@blountk12.org. Hard copies can be delivered to the BCS Central Office, 831 Grandview Dr., Maryville, TN 37803 Attn: Alumni Committee/Communications Director.

Nominations will remain on file for two years.

Alumni employed by Blount County Schools are not eligible for recognition.

Selection of Recipients

It is the duty of the Alumni Committee to review all nomination forms and make the final selection of recipients. The Director of Schools will inform the Board of Education of the award recipients.

Award Presentation

Recipients will receive plaques in honor of their recognition and recognized at a subsequent BCS Board of Education meeting.
